Does compression reduce image quality?

Slightly, but the default 80% quality typically cuts file size by 60-80% with no visible difference. JPG/WebP are lossy with adjustable quality; PNG is lossless and ignores the quality setting — use WebP for the smallest lossless output.

PNG, JPG, or WebP — which should I pick?

Accepted Answer

Pick PNG or WebP for transparency; JPG or WebP for photos at smaller sizes; PNG/JPG for maximum compatibility; WebP for modern websites. Transparent areas become white when converting to JPG.

Why is the WebP option disabled?

Some older browsers (e.g. old Safari) cannot export WebP. The tool detects this automatically and asks you to use PNG or JPG instead.

Does resizing crop the image?

No. Resize stretches or scales to your exact width/height and may change the aspect ratio. To remove unwanted parts, use the Crop tab to select the region to keep.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Image data never leaves your device and the tool works offline.
