Reverse DNS Lookup
Free reverse DNS lookup: find the PTR hostname behind any IPv4 or IPv6 address.
What is reverse DNS?
Reverse DNS queries a PTR record to map an IP address back to a hostname — the opposite direction of a normal A/AAAA lookup.
Why do many IPs have no PTR?
PTR records are optional and configured by the IP owner. Home broadband rarely sets them; mail servers usually do so to pass spam filters.
Does the PTR equal the website on that IP?
No. A PTR is just a label in DNS. One IP can host dozens of sites — use a hostname lookup for forward resolution instead.
